Yale Young African Scholars Program 2027, Free Online and Residential Tracks for Secondary Students

The Yale Young African Scholars Program is an intensive academic and enrichment experience for African secondary school students who plan to go to university and want to lead change on the continent. The 2027 edition runs two free tracks: an online College Prep Workshop for around 240 students and a residential Leadership Summit for around 110 students. There is no tuition for either, and applications close at 11:59 PM ET on 20 January 2027 for Regular Decision.

Eligibility: You are between 14 and 18 years old on 15 July 2027, with the typical participant aged 16 to 17

Funding or benefit

There are no tuition costs for either track. The online College Prep Workshop is entirely free of charge. The residential Leadership Summit is tuition free at $0 and includes housing, meals and all academic curriculum materials. Participants on the residential track pay or raise funds for their own travel and for travel documents such as a passport or visa.
