Applications are now open for the African Water Facility (AWF) 2026 Call for Proposals , an initiative designed to strengthen Africa’s water and sanitation investment pipeline by supporting the preparation of high-impact, investment-ready projects. Managed by the African Water Facility (AWF) under the African Development Bank (AfDB) , the programme aims to help governments and eligible institutions prepare bankable water and sanitation projects that can attract financing and accelerate access to safe water and sanitation services across Africa.

Funding Selected projects may receive: Up to €1 million in grant funding per project Technical assistance for project preparation Support to develop investment-ready water and sanitation projects Opportunities to mobilise additional financing from development partners and investors.

Eligible applicants include: National and local government institutions Water and sanitation utilities River basin organisations Public agencies responsible for water and sanitation infrastructure Other eligible institutions involved in water and sanitation project development in Africa.
