Eligibility

Projects serving communities in the Global South, rural areas, and peri-urban communities with limited access to formal financial services are particularly encouraged to apply.
What Projects Are Supported? Grant funding can support initiatives such as: Workshops and training sessions Community meetups and conversations Hackathons, sprints, and innovation challenges Local ecosystem events Research and policy projects Storytelling and awareness campaigns Development of educational content and materials around open payments and digital financial infrastructure.
What Applicants Need Applicants are required to submit a short application, including: A two-page concept note Project budget Implementation timeline and key milestones. Projects must be completed within six months of accepting the grant .
Why This Matters Access to affordable and inclusive digital financial services remains a challenge for many communities. The Interledger Local Impact Mini-Grants provide small, flexible funding to people already working within their communities, allowing them to organise practical activities around financial access and open payment technologies.
Importantly, previous experience with Interledger is not required . Applicants should, however, demonstrate an interest in learning about open payments and introducing members of their community to the ecosystem.
