About this opportunity
EEP Africa has opened nominations for the 2026 Rising Energy Leader award, a spotlight on young professionals leading the clean energy transition in Africa. Up to five nominees will be selected for recognition.
The award looks for emerging leaders who have added value to a project funded by EEP Africa, with at least three years of experience in clean energy technology, sales or business models. Judges want to see a strong commitment to the transition, demonstrated professional growth within the company, and the ambition of a leader with goals for the future.
Each winner will have a profile developed and shared across EEP Africa social media channels and the website, and the 2026 cohort is announced at the EEP Africa Knowledge Week in February 2027. Self nomination is open until 20 November 2026 through the online application form.

Who can apply
- Any young person no older than 35 years in 2026

Who should not apply
- Applicants without a connection to an EEP Africa funded project cannot be recognised
Documents to prepare
- Copy of your CV in English
- Details of your connection to the EEP Africa portfolio, including the project developer name and your relationship to them
- Contact information for one reference, such as a supervisor, colleague or mentor from the relevant EEP Africa project developer
How to apply
- Confirm your connection to an EEP Africa funded project
- Open the Rising Energy Leader application form linked from the official EEP Africa call for nominations
- Complete the survey fields including your job title, organisation, email and the relevant EEP project code or lead company
- Describe what inspired you to work in clean energy and upload your CV in English
- Add your referee details and submit your self nomination by 20 November 2026
