About this opportunity
EMMIR is an Erasmus Mundus joint master's programme on migration and intercultural relations, run by a European consortium that takes students through three countries over two years. The programme accepts applicants from any country, including Nigeria and other African states, with no nationality restriction on who may apply, and Edition 14 opened for applications in October 2026.
There are three routes into the programme. Scholarship applicants compete for a small number of Erasmus+ scholarships worth EUR 1,400 per month for 24 months, with health insurance and the host universities registration and student service fees covered. Non fee paying self-funded applicants are also selected on merit, pay no participation cost and have insurance and registration covered, but must show funds for living costs when applying for a student visa. Fee paying self-funded applicants pay a participation cost of EUR 4,500 per semester plus living expenses, with insurance and registration included.
Everyone who wants a scholarship or the non fee paying route must register on the official EMMIR application platform and submit a complete application before 20 December 2026 at 23:59, with notifications in April 2027. Fee paying students apply on a first come first served basis and at the latest by 15 July.
Entry asks for a relevant bachelor's degree in fields such as social sciences, history, cultural studies, educational sciences, law, economics, development studies or journalism, and applicants should expect to explain their motivation clearly in the required application documents on the official EMMIR portal.
