About this opportunity

Most organisations promote people for what they have already mastered, technical skill, delivery, results. Then one day the job changes and the measure becomes how you lead people through uncertainty. That gap is where a lot of promising careers quietly stall.

The Emerging Leaders Programme (ELP) at UONGOZI Institute, Tanzania's leadership university for public and private sector leaders, was built to close that gap. Run in collaboration with the HAUS Finnish Institute of Public Management, it is a self-paced programme of six modules over six months, centred on personal leadership: building self-awareness, resilience and a growth mindset, strengthening strategic thinking, communication and the confidence to mobilise others toward change. The faculty includes leadership development experts from across the world.

Who it is for

Mid-level executives working in any sector across Africa. You need at least one year of supervisory, managerial or leadership experience, at least five years of total work experience, a bachelor's degree or equivalent, good command of written and spoken English, and excellent computer skills.

Cost and scholarships

The programme fee is TZS 2.6 million per person, payable in two instalments: 50% before registration in November and 50% before module 4 in February. A limited number of merit-based scholarships are available, so apply even if self-funding is difficult.

Application steps

Prepare a curriculum vitae of no more than three pages, a recommendation, commitment and permission letter from your employer, and a motivational statement of 450 to 500 words explaining your leadership successes, challenges and why you want the programme. Submit everything through the online application form before 23 October 2026 at 23:00 East Africa Time.
