About this opportunity
Terre de Femmes is the long running programme through which the Yves Rocher Foundation supports women doing conservation work, and the International Award is its worldwide edition. The 2027 theme is trees in urban spaces, chosen because cities now hold more than half of humanity and are expected to hold two thirds by 2050, while the share of urban green space has fallen sharply in thirty years.
The Foundation selects two winning projects from across the world and gives each a €10,000 grant, along with a place in its community of committed women. What matters to the jury is a concrete project already underway, led by a woman of legal age or a collective of women, and carried out through a non profit organisation such as an association, NGO or foundation that has been established for at least one year.
The projects the Foundation points to are practical rather than theoretical: hands on urban education work with children and schools, forest gardens and community orchards, protecting notable or heritage trees, urban nurseries for native or endangered species, and re greening of dense neighbourhoods, brownfield sites, streets, rooftops, schools and hospitals. Anyone can apply from any country and all nationalities are welcome, which is why a Nigerian or Ghanaian women led group competes on the same terms as everyone else.
