About this opportunity

Every movement of climate activists needs a room to learn in. The African Climate Alliance 2027 Ambassador Programme is that kind of room, a nine month hybrid programme that takes young people who already care about climate justice and gives them training, mentors and a project of their own to lead.

The alliance describes ambassadors as being cultivated into young climate justice activists through relevant trainings across four learning schools, growing their climate justice knowledge, their capacity to organise within communities, and their ability to shape advocacy narratives to create change. Alongside the schools, ambassadors engage in peer mentorship as a form of decentralised knowledge sharing and support, and they lead localised projects that contribute to the growing work and impact of the alliance and the wider climate justice movement.

At the end, graduates leave with certification, networks and demonstrated work, which the application form presents as pathways to the next steps of your climate action journey. The journey does not stop there.

The programme page explains that past ambassadors are encouraged to submit project proposals to the ACA Opportunity Fund to receive a micro-grant and mentorship, and notes that in the past year, we have funded 7 projects in Zambia, Malawi, and South Africa. The application cycle for the 2027 cohort runs from Friday, 09 October 2026 to Sunday, 01 November 2026 at 23:59 CAT, and the form is plain that late submissions will not be accepted.

The application itself should take 30 to 45 minutes, and the alliance runs a zero tolerance policy towards AI generated responses, asking you to write in your own voice and using AI only to review your own draft. On who the programme is for, the alliance is a youth led and youth focused organisation working with the definition of youth that runs from the ages of 14 to 35.

Its own FAQ states that our focus on youth in Africa is informed by the fact that we are based on this continent, and that the work is dedicated to young people most affected by inequality and climate injustice in Africa. Neither the programme page nor the application form prints a country restriction, and the ambassador rounds are open to young African applicants in that spirit.

If you are already organising in your community and want structure, mentors and a certified project behind you, the 2027 ambassador round is a realistic next step. Apply through the alliance form before 01 November 2026 at 23:59 CAT.
