About this opportunity
Climate science in Africa needs more hands on it, and this fellowship is designed to grow them. The Enhanced Weathering Africa Partnership, EWAP for short, has opened Expressions of Interest for the founding cohort of its Research Fellowship Programme, a selective twelve week, primarily online learning and research programme.
The Founding Cohort brings together up to 10 emerging researchers from different disciplines. Across twelve weeks you move from the foundations of enhanced weathering to developing your own research direction, learning with EWAP researchers and guest experts through interactive sessions, practical exercises, mentoring and feedback, and joining a research community that spans disciplines.
Fellows who successfully meet the programme requirements receive a Certificate of Completion. Be clear about what this is and what it is not.
There is no application or participation fee. The fellowship is unpaid, it provides no stipend, salary or travel funding, and it carries no promise of a future paid or funded role with EWAP.
It is an investment in your research capability, with an honest label on the box. Who should apply?
Final-year undergraduate students, Master's students, PhD candidates and early-career researchers interested in enhanced weathering and its relevance to African climate, agriculture and sustainability priorities. The programme is interdisciplinary by design, and EWAP welcomes applicants whose work can contribute to enhanced weathering research in African contexts.
The calendar is published in full: Expressions of Interest close on 6 November 2026, full application invitations go out on 13 November 2026, the full
