About this opportunity
The Gender and Justice Mentorship Programme, Transnational Pathways to Inclusive Feminist Scholarship, was created by the journal's editorial board to widen access to academic publishing for writers the system has historically under served. Selected participants are paired with an Editorial Board member for three to four months of structured mentoring aimed at turning a near complete article into a submission ready manuscript for the journal.
The call is written for writers currently based in the Global South who have not undertaken master's or doctoral level graduate research in the Global North. That opens a real door for Nigerian and African scholars, independent researchers, activists, practitioners and writers working on gender, feminist theory, queer studies, social theory and feminist knowledge production, including people who have never published in an international journal.
Each mentee receives three to four online sessions on conceptual development, writing structure and clarity of argument, editorial guidance on responding to peer review, and connection to a cohort of peers. Between sessions the expectation is honest work, mentees commit to independent writing and revision, and mentors and mentees agree a flexible schedule around time zones and access needs. The programme is free of charge and provides no financial support, and it does not guarantee publication, since every article still goes through the journal's usual double anonymous peer review.
To apply, complete the official application form with a statement of interest of up to 300 words, an article abstract and outline of up to 500 words, a writing sample and a two page CV, then email the package to GenderandJustice@lexnetwork.org with the subject line Gender and Justice: Transnational Pathways to Inclusive Feminist Scholarship.
