About this opportunity
Community-led HIV providers have been squeezed from every side in recent years: funding cuts, hostile political environments, criminalisation and a shrinking civic space. The ActHIVate Fund was created as a direct answer to that pressure. Established by Aidsfonds, it commits 4 million euros over four years in flexible funding routed straight to community organisations, and the first round now open carries 2 million euros on its own.
The fund is aimed at not-for-profit civil society organisations that are led by and primarily serve men who have sex with men and trans communities, with proven experience in HIV-related health programming and advocacy. Nine countries are in scope for this call: Uganda, Nigeria, Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Moldova.
What makes this call unusual is how freely the money can be used. ActHIVate recognises that community organisations need resources not only to run programmes but also to strengthen their capacity, keep their operations alive and respond quickly when new needs or opportunities appear. Service delivery is treated as an entry point for strategic advocacy, and proposals that connect the two are exactly what the fund is looking for.
Selected projects must be implemented between 1 April 2027 and 31 December 2028. Applications are received in English through the Good Grants platform of Aidsfonds, and every applicant, successful or not, hears back by mid-December 2026.

Who should not apply
- For-profit organisations are not eligible for this call
- Organisations outside the nine listed countries cannot apply under this round

Selection process
