About this opportunity

Technical interviews reward a particular skill: solving an unfamiliar problem out loud, under a clock. This workshop is a rehearsal for exactly that. Google Africa is running a free virtual session on Saturday 31 October 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00 GMT, which lands at 13:00 to 15:00 in Lagos, 14:00 to 16:00 in Johannesburg and 15:00 to 17:00 in Nairobi.

The programme has three parts. Experienced Google engineers explain how interviewers think and what they actually assess. The session reviews the data structures and algorithms that come up most often in Google interviews. Then it works through problem solving techniques for complex coding questions under time pressure, including how to break a problem down, reason through options and communicate your thinking clearly rather than just producing code that happens to work.

It is aimed at people who will be applying soon. If you are studying computer science or engineering at Bachelor's, Master's or PhD level, or you graduated recently and are preparing for recruitment at technology companies, the session is designed for you. You must be 18 or older. Because the workshop is online, joining instructions arrive with your registration confirmation.

Registration closes as the session begins, so if you are interested, reserve your place early. This is a training session rather than a hiring pipeline, and no fee applies.
