The American Philosophical Society’s Franklin Research Grants meet the costs of travel to libraries and archives, of copying research materials, of fieldwork and of laboratory research, for noncommercial scholarly work. Awards run up to USD 7,000 and are paid to the individual researcher rather than to an institution.
