Grooming Centre University Research Grant Scheme 2026 for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students in Nigeria

The Grooming Centre University Grant is supporting 150 student research projects in its 2026 scheme, with 100 awards set aside for undergraduates and 50 for postgraduates at Nigerian tertiary institutions. Final year undergraduates and postgraduates whose research touches financial inclusion, microfinance, rural development, social enterprise, MSMEs, digital finance, youth or women in development, or any study aimed at lifting people out of poverty, can submit a full research proposal; the window printed on the grant site runs from 31st August to 23rd October 2026.

French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, managed by Campus France

France Excellence Eiffel Scholarship Programme 2027 for Masters and PhD Study in France

The France Excellence Eiffel programme of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs funds top foreign students in Master's, engineering and doctoral degrees at French higher education institutions. For 2027 the monthly allowance is 1,200 euros at Master's level and 2,100 euros at doctoral level, from January 2026 rates, plus travel, insurance, housing support and cultural activities, while tuition is not covered. Nigerian and other African students aged 29 or below for Master's and 35 or below for doctoral study can be nominated by a French institution, and the call that opened on 2 October 2026 closes to institutions on 6 January 2027.

Eligibility: Foreign students applying for a Master's degree, an engineering programme or a joint doctoral programme (joint supervision or dual degree with a partner institution abroad) at a French higher education institution

World Economic Forum

World Economic Forum Technology Pioneers Program 2027 for Early Stage Start-ups Worldwide

The World Economic Forum selects 100 early stage technology companies each year into its Technology Pioneers community and works with their founders for 2 years on issues facing people and planet. The 2027 call is open to independently held, private start-ups under 10 years old that have closed at least a Series A of 10 million US dollars, anywhere in the world, African founders included. Applications go in through the Forum's official form and must be submitted by midnight Pacific Time on 31 January 2027.

Deutsche Welle (DW) Akademie

Deutsche Welle International Journalism Traineeship 2028/2029, 12 Paid Places in Bonn and Berlin

Deutsche Welle, Germany's international public broadcaster, has opened applications for its bilingual 18 month journalism traineeship taking place from January 2028. Twelve paid places await trainees in Bonn and Berlin, with a foreign bureau placement in Brussels, Washington, Jakarta, Jerusalem, Riga or Delhi, and a training salary that rises from 2,196 euros to 2,473 euros a month before tax. The programme asks applicants worldwide, Nigerians and other Africans included, for native level skill in a DW programme language such as Hausa, Kiswahili, Amharic or English, plus good German, and the application portal closes on 17 November 2026 at 12 noon German time.

Eligibility: Native speaker of one of the DW programme languages, which include Hausa, Kiswahili, Amharic, Arabic, French and Portuguese, with excellent English (C1 or C2) and good German (B1 or B2)
